Beyond the inseam.
Length is only part of the story. A piece that feels right works with all of your proportions, and with the way you move.
Start with where things sit.
A waistband has a place to land. A knee has a place to bend. When you try on a pair of trousers, notice those points before you look at the hem. Does the rise feel comfortable when you sit? Do the pockets fall where your hands naturally rest?
Two women of the same height can have very different proportions. Your own measurements, and a pair you already love wearing, are more useful starting points than height alone.
Make room for movement.
Take a few steps. Sit down. Reach for something. A good fit should allow you to do the things your day asks of you. Notice whether the waistband pulls, the sleeves ride up, or the shoulders restrict your movement.
Think about your shoes.
Try the piece with the shoes you plan to wear. A wide trouser can fall quite differently over a flat shoe and a heel. The right length depends on the silhouette you want and what feels practical for your day.
Let your preferences lead.
You might like an ankle showing, a hem that skims your shoes, or a sleeve with a little extra room. The point of understanding fit is to give you more choice. Start with how you want to feel, then look for the proportions that get you there.
